Thus, THE K5™ COFFEE was born. Built on a PLA base, it integrates recycled coffee grounds—optimized for particle size and blending ratios—directly into 3D printing filament.

Troubleshooting Guide: Common PLA Coffee Printing Issues & Solutions
To ensure the best printing experience, K+ Lab has compiled the following troubleshooting tips:
Q1: Why does PLA Coffee string, bubble, or make a popping sound during printing?
A: Coffee grounds naturally absorb moisture, and moist filament leads to unstable printing.
Solution:
- Thoroughly dry the filament before printing.
- Store it in a dry box or multi-color system with relative humidity kept below 20%.
Q2: Why won't the model stick to the build plate, causing it to fall off during printing?
A: The nozzle height may be too high, bed temperature too low, or the build plate has grease/oil residue.
Solution:
- Recalibrate the build platform and fine-tune (lower) the Z-Offset.
- Thoroughly wipe down the heated bed with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to remove oil residues.
Q3: Why is the model surface rough with visible layer lines or small blobs?
A: This is usually caused by printing too fast, incorrect nozzle temperature, or insufficient cooling.
Solution:
- Reduce printing speed (especially outer wall speed).
- Fine-tune nozzle temperature based on test prints.
- Ensure the cooling fan functions properly and runs at adequate power.
Q4: Why are the edges of the model lifting (warping)?
A: This is typically due to insufficient bed temperature, cold ambient drafts, or poor first-layer adhesion.
Solution:
- Increase the bed temperature by about 5°C and avoid direct airflow from air conditioners or room fans.
- Enable Brim or Raft in your slicer software to increase the surface contact area with the build plate.
